Jumpstart STEM
Jumpstart STEM is a year-long program created to empower traditionally underserved and under-resourced entrepreneurs in STEM fields. The program features 16 weeks of in-class training focused on both technology and business innovation, offering instruction in coding, artificial intelligence (AI), prototyping, and 3D modeling. This hands-on learning is conducted at Blackhawk Technical College’s Innovative Manufacturing Education Center (IMEC) where participants gain practical experience and technical confidence.
The program fosters an inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem by pairing participants with mentors, facilitating peer networking, and delivering real-world applications of technology tools. Its mission is to equip minority business owners with the knowledge and capabilities to innovate, grow, and successfully compete in today’s digital economy.
By tackling persistent challenges like limited access to technology and capital, Jumpstart STEM promotes long-term economic resilience and supports job creation. Partnerships with institutions such as Blackhawk Technical College expand access to advanced resources, and the program also hosts monthly community AI classes and quarterly 3D modeling and printing workshops. With plans to scale statewide, Jumpstart STEM is committed to closing the equity gap in STEM entrepreneurship and ensuring that more business owners can thrive in a technology-driven future.
